Volleyball came into my life my Sophomore year of high school. Mr. P was very kind and was able to form a volleyball team for the school. The first year during tryouts my physical was some how not cleared even though I played soccer in the fall. So i forced to sit out the first wee of tryouts. I did not think this would jepordise my chances of making the team, but varsity yes. I only tried out for three days, but I still made the team just liked everyone else who tried out. My name was not on the varsity roster, but I was told I would play JV and sit bench for Varsity. I didn't play at all that year for varsity, I came close to it, but never did. We went 2-8 shockingly that is a good record for a teams first year.
Then last year came and it was a shock to everyone what happened. We lost two starters from the prior year, but we didn't know we would be good, because those to players we lost were are best ones. I became a starter and we have a very young roster with only two seniors on the team. Our conference was the worst conference in the shore last year so beating Barneget and Lacey twice wasn't really hard. Mon Don came close to beating us once last year but we still were able to take them out both times. Manchester was ranked in the top 5 of the shore in the beginning of the year and beating them twice was not going to be easy, beating them once was not going to be easy. The year before this they embarrassed us and we thought they were going to do the same thing. Some how they didn't. The first time we played them it was on their court and we managed to win the first two games of three and that was it. They went by really quickly, and I didn't know we were winning until game point both matches. The second time we played them they were 6-1 in the conference and we were 7-0. So we already won it but they had a chance to as well. We lost the first match but won the last two. So we finished 8-0 in the conference and 10-6 overall.
This year finally came along. We only lost two players and it wouldn't be hard to replace them. Unfortunately we had to players quit before the season and that hurt us even more. Luckily one player wasn't a starter but he was still good have, and we replaced the other with a basketball player who came out this year. Right now we are 5-1 in the conference tied with Lacey. But there is still two weeks left and anything can happen. Hopefully we win the rest of our games and the loose one giving us solo champions of A Central once again.
